October 6, 2001

This is a trail that I have wanted to do for a long time. It had been weeks since our last outing, and it seemed easy enough to do after a long layoff. It was an easy trail, and really wasn't that long.

However, grumpiness (me) and clouds were prevalent on this day. From the parking lot you couldn't really even see where the trail head was. It was foggy, rainy, cold, and generally not a day to spend at a place like this because you would never really see the glaciers or Baker.

We followed the trail for quite awhile until we came to this meadow. Normally, with some sort of a view the path to take would be quite prevalent. Not today.

We ended up wasting time trying to move up this stupid scree slope which went nowhere before we realized we were wrong. My disposition soured. I was pissed because we couldn't see anything, and my decision to try this slope was wrong, and I felt it was an insult to my intelligence that I even considered it.

In any case, the trail provided the sweetest, juiciest, and most abundant plethora of blueberries I have ever seen. That perked up my spirits, until we got close to where the views should have been grand, and I got pissed again.

We could have continued on past this point, but the weather did not look good. We were getting snowed on, and Baker was hiding well behind a curtain. Save it for next time.
